RIL discovers gas in Krishna Godavari basin

New Delhi, Sept 24: Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) said it has notified the government about the discovery of gas in the Krishna Godavari basin located in the eastern coast of India.

''The discovery has been named Dhirubhai 28, and the notification has been made in terms of the Product Sharing Contract (PSC), entered into by RIL and the Government of India,'' a company statement said.

RIL notified the Director General of Hydrocarbon (DGH), GoI, with regard to the gas discovery at the KG-OSN-2001/1 (NELP-III) block.

However, the commercial interest of the said discovery is yet to be established, the statement added.
