Nepal establishes diplomatic relations with Congo and Andora

Kathmandu, Sep 24 (UNI) Nepal has established diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Andora, the Foreign Ministry said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs K P Sharma Oli and DRC's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Democratic Republic Raymond Ramazani Baya signed an agreement to this effect at the Permanent Mission of Nepal in New York on Friday.

Following the signing of the agreement, Mr Oli and Mr Baya discussed issues of common interest, the ministry said.

They expressed their determination to further promote and strengthen bilateral cooperation in socio-economic and cultural fields in future, according to the ministry.

Nepal has also established diplomatic relations with the Principality of Andorra. Mr Oli and Andorra's Minister for Foreign Affairs Juli Minoves signed the agreement in New York only.

The Principality of Andorra is located in Southwestern Europe between France and Spain. It is endowed with natural resources including hydropower, mineral water, timber, iron ore and lead.

After the signing of the agreement, both Ministers expressed their commitment to promoting further bilateral cooperation in the areas of mutual interest including tourism and cultural sectors.

With the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Principality of Andorra, the number of countries with which Nepal has established diplomatic relations has reached 125.
