Man shoots wife to death

Chennai, Sep 24 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a man shot dead his wife after she revolted his decision of contesting the Local Body (LB) elections at a village in Namakkal district here last night.

Police said Krishnamurthy (39) of Chettithottam village in Thiruchengode taluk in Namakkal district, expressed his desire to fight election as councillor in the local body, but his wife Thangamani (25) opposed his wish.

Krishnamurthy, irked by his wife's stiff opposition to his wishes, shot her dead, with an unlicenced country made pistol. She died on the spot.

Krishnamurthy, later surrendered before the police.

A case was registered against him investigations were on.
