Libyan delegation visits IGNOU
New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) A delegation headed by Libyan Minister for Higher Education Dr Ibrahum al-Zarruq al-Sharif visited the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to explore the possibilities of cooperation and faculty exchange with Libyan universities.
The Minister expressed hope of collaboration between IGNOU and Libyan universities particularly in the area of Information Technology to strengthen distance learning system in their country, a University release said here today.
IGNOU Vice-Chancellor S C Garg, welcoming the delegates, said IGNOU has 24-hour educational tv channels and 23 FM radio stations reaching even the remotest areas of the country.
The University, he said, has established two EDUSAT supported national networks, one for higher education and another for school education.
He informed that IGNOU programmes were being offered in 35 countries. The University is participating in the pan-African Tele Education Project of the Union Government.
The delegation went around the electronic media production centre of IGNOU.
