India helped dialogue between parties and Maoists: Bhattarai

Kathmandu, Sep 24 (UNI) Senior Nepalese Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai appreciated the role played by India in bringing about consensus between the Seven-Party Alliance and the Maoists, media reports said here today.

''The 12-point agreement could not have been reached without the Indian government's support,'' Kantipur quoted Mr Bhattarai as sayinng.

The 12-point agreement is claimed to be the foundation for the restoration of democracy and curtains for autocratic rule in Nepal.

Blaming the seven parties for the deadlock in the summit talks he further elaborated that monarchy is the major hindrance in state's restructuring process. He also sought to draw attention to the unnecessary interference by the international communities obstructing the peace process.

SD Muni, an Indian expert said ''When national forces in Nepal weaken, international interference increases and in the country's restructuring process, the country's national forces must be strong so as to play a decisive role,'' Kantipur quoted Mr Muni as saying.

India is eager to assist Nepal in establishing democracy, and other international agencies, including UN, must support Nepal to give an exit to all the persisting political deadlocks, he added.
