Housemaid sent back to Kerala empty-handed from Bahrain

Dubai, Sep 24 (UNI) A housemaid from Kerala, who demanded Rs 44,250 from her Bahraini sponsor for unpaid salary, was sent home empty-handed after she agreed for the money to be used for an air ticket.

Sajitha Beevi, 30, who had been under the custody of the Indian Embassy in Manama since July 25, had been waiting for summons from the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings after she filed a case against her sponsor for alleged assault, breach of contract and unpaid salary.

She had demanded BD15 (Rs 1,800) that was allegedly cut from her BD50 (Rs 6,000) salary every month since she arrived in here last October, as well as four months' unpaid wages.
