Highway loots in NH 39 must stop: Manipur transporters

Imphal, Sep 24 (UNI) The All Manipur Inter State Bus Association has urged the Manipur government to talk to the Nagaland government to stop loot and harassment of the transporters on National Highway 39 in Nagaland.

A Budha Luwang, president of the association, told mediapersons today that two people, who claimed to be the NSCN(IM) cadres, stopped a bus at Piphema in Nagaland on the way to Imphal and demanded money from the passengers.

When they started molesting the womenfolk, the passengers protested the two armed persons and managed to nab one of them.

However, another person fled.

The gold and money, which they looted, were recovered by the people.

The president further demanded that the person should be handed over to Manipur government.

The President also appealed to the Manipur government to take up the issue of extortion in the name of militant outfits at Dimapur.
