Govt considering month-long ceasefire in Kashmir
New Delhi, Sept 24: The Central government is actively considering a one-month ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow on the occasion of Ramzan and Id.
According to the Home Ministry sources, the issue was discussed thrice since September 20.
The consideration came following a request from militant organisation, the Hizbul Mujahideenn, for a ceasefire in view of the biggest religious ceremony in the Kashmir valley.
The meeting was headed by National Security Adviser M K Narayanan, Home Secretary V K Duggal and other senior officials, the sources said.
