FCI to construct foodgrain godowns across NE
Aizawl, Sep 24 (UNI) The Ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution has released Rs 4.86 crores to Food Corporation of India (FCI) to construct godowns for foodgrains storage, across the northeastern states.
Being ten per cent of the budgetary plan allocation against the total 48.62 crore the, the Ministry of consumer affairs has instructed FCI to construct godowns in Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland and Assam, according to their requirement, the official sources here informed.
Against this release, currently, FCI would spend Rs 412.04 lakhs for the northeastern states, which includes, Rs 78.43 lakh in Jiribam (Manipur), Rs 102.12 lakh in Agartala phase II and Chandarpur (Tripura), Rs 173.43 lakh in Lunglei, Lawngtalei and Bulpui (Mizoram), Rs 29.92 lakh in Dimaphur phase I and Phase II (Nagaland) and Rs 28.14 lakh in Chalkowa, Sanchowa and Badarput Ghat in Assam.
In the allocation, FCI would also be spending the money for the rice grains for public distribution scheme across the region, the official sources added.
