BSF jawans kill armed intruders, foils attack plan
Jaislamer, Sep 24 (UNI) Border Security Forces (BSF) jawans shot dead three heavily armed infiltrators in an encounter in Ganganagar district early morning today.
The BSF jawans also seized three AK 47 rifles, three pistols, 10 grenades, two rockets, 18 magazines of assault rifles, four magazines of rifles, one 315 bore rifle with two magazines and Rs 5000 in Indian currency from the slain. The intruders were reportedly bags on their back, which also contained medicines, clothes and daily use articles.
Sources said this is the first time that Rajasthan border areas were being used for infiltration from across the border.
The encounter, which began late last night, went on till the morning in Anupgarh Samer region of Ganganagar.
Senior BSF officials have left for the encounter site and details are awaited.
According to BSF sources (Rajasthan Frontier), the jawans of 195 Battalion, posted at the Sherpura check post, detected some movement at the international border in Anupgarh Samer around 2230hrs last night and saw some youths crossing over from Pakistani side. When the BSF jawans asked them to stop, those youths opened fire.
The BSF jawans then retaliated.
Sources said firing continued through out the night. Later the BSF found the dead bodies of the three intruders in their search operation.
It is being believed that there were seven-eight other people providing cover fire for the intruders. However, they managed to escape back into Pakistan following the BSF attack.
