BSF captures top commander of UPDF
Aizawl, Sept 24: Border Security Forces (BSF) today captured United Democratic Peoples Front (UDPF)'s top commander with his bodyguard at Tuipuibari area near Mizoram-Tripura border.
BSF sources told sources that they also seized 3.5 lakh Bangladesh currency and a high-tech Japanese made wireless set from their possession.
The BSF officials said the arrested UDPF militants, who were operating from Bangladesh, intruded into Indian territory to buy arms and ammunition from the Tripura based militants group.
Another local person Uday Chakma (32) was also arrested with these militants as he had given shelter to these militants during the operation, the officials added.
The arrested persons were handed over to Mizoram police for further interrogation.
Mizoram and its border with Bangladesh has been put on 'high alert' following the arrest of these militants. Extra Border OutPost (BOP) were deployed along these areas.
