BJP election committee to select candidates for byelections : Sushma

Bhopal, Sep 24 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Sushma Swaraj today said the party's election committee would select candidates for byelections to the Vidisha Lok Sabha seat and Malehra assembly seat.

Speaking at the BJP's state office, Ms Swaraj pointed out that the Centre's Vande Mataram Centenary Celebration Committee determined the date -- September 7 -- for mass singing of the National Song on the basis of the centenary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's rendering at the INC's Kolkata session, a release said.

''However, it is not proper to restrict Vande Mataram to any particular date,'' said the Rajya Sabha Member who also interacted with Mahila Morcha members.
