100 villagers fall sick due to Food poisoning in Orissa

Sambalpur, Sep 24 (UNI) Over hundred people fell sick at Katapali village under Sohela block of Bargarh district of Orissa after consuming food served at a function last night, police today said.

All of them, complaining of vomiting and stomach pain, were shifted to the Sohela Primary Health Centre and District Headquarters hospital at Bargarh.

Sambalpur BJD Parliament member Prasanna Acharya rushed to the spot with Chief District Medical Officer Dr K C Sith and Additional District Medical Officer M C Panda of Bargarh to provide treatment to the sick villagers.

Mr Acharya said most of the villagers were now out of danger due to timely action of the attending doctors. Authorities are still clueless about the reason behind the food poisoning.
