Two die in fire accident

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu Sep 23 (UNI) Two people died here today at Ammanpakkam village in Chengalpattu near here when a woman, who tried to commit suicide, was resisted by her brother-in-law and met with a similar fate.

Police said Anjalai (35), hailing from Kurapettai village near here had a family confrontation with her brother-in-law Subramaniam at his residence in Chengalpattu.

Subramaniam had allegedly abused her in an abusive language.

The disheartened sister-in-law sets herself on fire with kerosene when her sister Marudayee was not at home.

Subramaniam, on hearing the cries of Anjali and realising the alarming situation, tried to douse the fire, but in the melee, was inflicted with severe burns on his body.

Both the seriously injured were admitted to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital, but they succumbed to injuries.

A case has been registered and an investigation was under way, police added.
