Two-day seminar on insurgency in Shillong

Shillong, Sept 23 (UNI) A two-day seminar on Peace and Development in the North East India will be held in the North Eastern Council Auditorium here on September 25-26.

Union Minister in-charge Tribal Affairs and Development of North Eastern Region Patty Ripple Kyndiah would inaugurate the seminar organized by the Institute for Defence Studies and analyse the issues concerning the region in collaboration with North Eastern Council and North Eastern Hills University.

Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee would address the valedictory function on September 26.

The seminar would focus on issues of insurgency, identity, ethnicity and possible linkages and interface with external forces.

The objective behind holding a seminar is to acquire better understanding of the region and to facilitate greater interaction among the scholars, media and all officials.
