Three charred to death in road accident

Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 23 (UNI) Three persons were burnt alive when the engine of the car in which they were travelling caught fire and hit a lorry at Gangavaram mandal in this district today.

Police said the mishap occurred when the car, which was proceeding to Tirupati from Bangalore for a darshan of Lord Balaji, hit the Tamil Nadu bound lorry at Pathikonda crossing.

The deceased were identified as Sandeep (26), Amith (26) and Rakesh (27).

The driver and cleaner of the lorry are absconding.

A case has been registered and an investigation is, on, police added.
