Shankara, Natraj and Ayesha, Preeti Clinches Doubles Crown

Indore, Sep 23 (UNI) M Natraj and R M Shankara of Indian Airlines upset Shaktivel and B Radhakrishnan of Tamil Nadu with 2-0 margin scoring 25-24, 25-20 to clinch the Men's double title in the 14th All India Federation Cup Carrom Tournament here last evening.

Ayesha Mohammad of Maharashtra and Preeti Bhatankar bagged the Women's double title defeating former world champion Rashmi Kumari of Bihar and her partner Guria Rani Rashmi with 2-0 margin In the first game, after the break of Shaktivel, Shankara and Natraj were behind 22-24. However, immediately after conclusion of that particular board, Natraj did a good job to finish the game.

In the second game, Radhakrishnan was in pressure and could not reach up to the mark.

In Women's double title clash, in the second game after the conclusion of 9th board was 18-18 each. International Umpire Srikant Kulkarni allowed Preeti to break.

A tremendous break made the difference of 7 points to get full mark and the score was 25-16 and 25-18.
