NBW against Chhattisgarh minister
Raipur, Sep 23 (UNI) A local court today issued NBWs against Chhattisgarh Public Works Minister Rajesh Munat and six other BJP leaders in connection with a case registered during an agitation nearly five years back.
Addl Chief Judicial Magistrate Satyabhama issued NBWs against the Minister, Parliamentary Secretary Poonam Chandrakar and others after the police filed charge sheets.
The case was registered after the BJP, which was then in the opposition, organised a gherao of the official residence of the then chief minister Ajit Jogi in 2001. Charges include attempt to murder and obstructing a government servant from performing his duty.
In his reaction, Chief Minister Raman Singh said, ''appropriate action will be taken in consultation with legal experts.'' Mr Munat said he was seeking legal opinion.
In a statement issued here, Mr Jogi said the BJP leaders should resign as there were criminal charges.
Mr Jogi said the Congress workers were in the process of finding out whether these leaders mentioned these cases in the declaration filed with returning officers before contesting polls.
