Mysore to prepare master plan for industrial growth

Mysore, Sep 23: Karnataka Heavy and Medium Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu today asked the Mysore district administration to prepare a master plan for industrial growth here in the next 50 years.

Speaking at an interactive programme with Small and Medium Industrial Association members here, he said the plan should lay focus on providing infrastructure to investors, evincing keen interest in setting up industries here. The Government had sanctioned Rs 29 crore additional amount for the development of infrastructure in the industrial area in the district, particularly in the city, besides the Rs 9.5 crore sanctioned already. It was spending Rs 500 crore for development of infrastructure of the industrial areas in the State, he added.

Stating that nearly 10,000 sick industries in the State had availed loans from KSFC, the Minister said the Government was ready to pay Rs 120 crore towards interest for the loans to KSFC to revive these industries. The Government had also issued a notification for acquiring 25,000 acres of land in the State for industrial area development.

Mr Naidu said the Government was contemplating to bring in an amendment to the labour law and necessary discussions were on with the Labour Ministry.

He asserted that the Government would not give permission to set up chemical industry in and around the city to maintain its heritage status and safeguard the tourism industry. A heritage resort and golf club would come up in Mysore-Nanjangud road in the private sector and the Government had sanctioned 400 acres for it.

Later, he participated in the inauguration of 60-day Mysore Dasara exhibition as part of the Dasara festivities.
