Militant among two killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 23 (UNI) A militant was among two people killed in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.

They said troops of 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Tarzoo, Sopore, about 55 km from here yesterday.

However, when the troops were sealing the area, militants opened fire and also hurled hand grenades. Troops also retaliated and the fierce encounter continued for about three hours.

They said one militant was killed. One house was also damaged in the shootout. One ak rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

Militants shot dead one person at Kangan late last night, they said.
