Major tragedy averted in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 23 (UNI) A major tragedy was averted by the police today in south Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

He said militants today planted a powerful Imprvised Explosive Device (IED) at Zainpora on Anantnag-Shopian road in south Kashmir to target security forces. However, a police party, during a routine patrolling noticed the IED which was later defused by the bomb disposal squad without causing any damage.

Had it not been detected and defused it would have caused much damage to life and property as the road remains busy, the spokesman said.
