Haryana observes Martyrdom Day of Rao Tula Ram
Chandigarh, Sep 23 (UNI) Haryana Martyrdom Day was observed today across the state with Union Minister of State for Defence, Rao Inderjeet Singh leading in paying rich tributes to Rao Tula Ram, the great patriot of the 1857 freedom movement.
While paying tributes to the great hero at his memorial situated in Rewari, the Union Minister said the supreme sacrifice made by Rao Tula Ram during the freedom struggle could never be forgotten. He led several other valiant and brave soldiers of Haryana, who sacrificed their lives to free the motherland from the shackles of British Colonial rule.
After laying flowers at the memorial, the Speaker of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Dr Raghubir Singh Kadian said, the true tribute to the martyrs would be to follow the path shown by them and to remain committed for the safety and security of the nation.
While remembering the sacrifice made by the great martyr, the Haryana Revenue and Irrigation Minister, Capt Ajay Singh Yadav exhorted the people, specially the youth, to always remember the sacrifices made by such brave souls due to which we have been able to live in a free country.
Paintings, essay writing and declamation competitions were organised to mark the occasion and the winners were given prizes.
