Governor performs havan, offers puja at Vaishno Devi
Katra, Sep 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha today paid obeisance at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, praying for universal peace and brotherhood.
With the beginning of the Navratra season, the governor participated in 'shat chandi mahayagya' and offered 'puran ahuti'.
He also offered pujas in the sanctum sanctorum.
Principal secretary to the governor and Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Arun Kumar and Additional Chief Executive Officer, Puneet Kumar also joined in the pujas.
Earlier, the governor, who is also the chairman of SMVDSB, inspected the ongoing works in the bhavan and its periphery that includes a sewerage treatment plant, setting up of an additional 800 lockers for the pilgrims, waiting hall adjacent to the stairs and other works aimed at reducing congestion and regulating pilgrim traffic.
Mr Sinha inaugurated the exit tunnel which will help in streamlining the pilgrimage traffic and reduce congestion inside the cave.
