Gas Tragedy hearing on Nov 17
Bhopal, Sep 23 (UNI) The Chief Judicial Magistrate's court today fixed November 17 as the next date for hearing on a criminal case pertaining to the world's worst industrial disaster -- the Bhopal Gas Tragedy of the intervening night of December 2-3, 1984.
CJM Raveendra Jain received an application from Advocate S K Srivastava, representing K V Shetty who stands accused under Section 317 CrPC and sought to be excused from personal appearance. The permission was granted. The CBI was represented by Advocate C Sahai.
Thousands of persons died in their sleep after methyl isocyanate leaked out of the Union Carbide factory here. Lakhs continue to suffer the deleterious effects of inhaling the deadly vapours.
