Fishermen keep off from sea
Bhuj, Sept 23 (UNI) With cyclone threat looming large on the coastal belt of Gujarat, 400 fishing boats were berthed at the Zakhau port with fishermen asked to keep away from the sea.
At Kandla port, nearly 300 saltpan workers near the sea were moved to hinterland as a precautionary measure. Also 4,000 workers of the Kandla port have stopped working and have been shifted to safer places since today afternoon.
The slum-dwellers in the low-lying Kandla port area have been asked to take shelter in schools and other public places. The mamlatdar and local civic officials are helping these people shift to safer areas.
