Father accused of raping daughter arrested in HP
Dharamshala, Sep 23 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Police has arrested a 55-year old man from a village in Kangra district of the state for allegedly raping his 14-year old daughter for the last three years.
Manohar Lal, a resident of Rumaid village, was arrested yesterday after the girl narrated her experience to an NGO activist, Sushma, who in turn informed the police.
Sushma is Mahila Mandal Pradhan of the Chinmayanad Gram Vikas Sangathan (CGVS).
Kangra SHO, Surender Sharma told UNI here that Manohar was arrested on a complaint by her youngest daughter, who alleged that he was sexually exploiting her.
Manohar's wife had died 12 years ago and was living with his 14-year old girl and 16-year old son named Munish after getting his two elder daughters married, he said.
Mr Sharma said a medical examination of Manohar and her daughter has been conducted and they were awaiting for the report.
He said a case under section 376 of the IPC has been registered and investigations are on.
Meanwhile, police sources said the girl's elder brother had expressed his inability to do anything in the matter after she told him about her sexual exploitation by the father.
