CM to arrive at Tirumala for Brahmotsavam
Tirumala, Sep 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will be paying a two-day visit to Tirumala temple and is slated to present 'Pattu Vastrams' to Lord Sri Venkateswara on behalf of the state government on September 25 evening, the first day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam.
Addressing press persons regarding Brahmotsavam arrangements, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive officer A P V N Sarma today said the Chief Minister would carry the vastrams on his head accompanied by temple officials and present to the temple chief priest after 1900 hours. By this time the Dwajarohanam (flag hoisting) to mark the beginning of the festival would be over, he added.
After darshan of the lord, Mr Reddy would stay overnight on the hills and he would dedicate 'Sri Madandra Mahabharatham' comprising 18 parvas in 15 volumes, to the people on September 26 morning at Asthanamandapam in Tirumala, he added.
This would be the second time that the Dr Reddy would be presenting 'Pattu Vastrams' to the lord on the first day of the Brahmotsavam, instead of presenting on 'Garuda Seva' on the fifth day of the festival.
This decision was taken at the instance of the TTD for reasons of security and the very heavy crowd for 'Garuda Seva'.
The EO requested the devotees not to throw coins and other things on the deity and the priests during the procession around four mada streets.
