Bomb scare on Rajdhani Express turns hoax

Palanpur, Sep 23 (UNI) A large police contingent, including a bomb defusal team and sniffer dog squad were today deployed at the Palanpur railway station here, following an information that a bomb had been planted on the Rajdhani Express, which however turned out to be a hoax.

District Police chief Vipul Aggarwal said they swung into action after the receipt of the fax about the bomb being planted in the train from the railway authorities. After the Rajdhani Express arrived at the railway station here, a large number of police contingent cordoned off the train this evening.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) at Palanpur had received a post card, written in Hindi, this afternoon, in which it was mentioned that a bomb had been planted in the train. The postcard was believed to have originated from Palanpur, he said.

It seemed nothing but a deliberate mischief, he added.
