Bharat Scans to hold Heart Day rally

Chennai, Sept 23: Bharat Scans and Specialities Ltd, South India's premier diagnostic centre, would conduct a ''cycling, skating run and walk'' rally here to mark the World Heart Day tomorrow.

Giving details of the rally, Dr R Emmanuel, Managing Director, Bhrat Scans, told newspersons that 2006 people, drawn from various walks of life, would take part in the rally to be conducted on the Marina beach and release 2006 heart-shaped red and white balloons in the air.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister K K S S R Ramachandran would flag off the rally after administering an oath of good health to the participants.

The participants would take the oath to abstain from smoking, drinking, avoid junk foods and perform exercise regularly, he said.

Joint Commissioner of Police M Ravi, Dr A Rajasekaran, President, National Board of Examinations (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare), Actor Vivek and Television personality Baski would be the chief guests for the mega rally.

Dr Emmanuel said the rally was aimed at creating awareness about health and heart among the public.

''In the pursuit of our busy sedentary life, we forget the importance of exercise. The rally is to convey the message that we all should learn to love our heart and keep it beating,'' he said.

He further said Bharat Scans would organise similar rallies in Vellore and Kumbakonam on the same day. While the rally in Vellore was being arranged in coordination with the Rotary Club of Vellore, Anbu Hospitals would join Bharat Scans to organise the event in Kumbakonam.
