Avoid overlapping to save public money: Tuki

Itanagar, Sep 23 (UNI) Aruanchal Pradesh Public Works Department and Urban Development (PWD&UD) minister Nabam Tuki today said duplicacy and overlapping works must be avoided to save the public money.

Mr Tuki on a four-day visit to East Kameng district, has sternly directed all the departments to complete the projects in time so as to avoid cost escalations, official sources said.

Considering the vehement demand for the suspension bridge over the Kameng river, the minister directed the executive engineer to launch it by December.

Mr Tuki would take up the matter with the Power minister to provide diesel generator sets till completion of Pacha micro hydel project and North Eastern Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO) to solve the chronic power crisis, sources said.

The minister also expressed his concern over the sufferings of the rural people due to the drought and rodent menace and ordered to immediately provide relief to the needy.

Highlighting the details of various urban development projects, housing, urban poverty alleviation, develop small and medium towns, Mr Tuki informed that till the municipal act is enacted, the Direct Urban Development Agency (DUDA) would implement urban schemes, sources added.
