Atwal makes the cut at Texas Open
Houston, Sep 23 (UNI) Arjun Atwal lost his way after a good start but recovered in the nick of time to card an even-par 70 to make the cut at the tied 66th position after the second round of the 4,000,000 dollar Texas Open here.
The Orlando-based Indian -- with a two-day total of one-over 141 -- lay at the bottom of the table along with 12 others.
Americans DA Points (66) and Eric Axely (63) are tied for the top spot with a two-round total of nine-under 131.
Atwal, meanwhile, had a good start to his round as he sank in a birdie on the first hole before gaining another shot on the seventh to make the turn at two-under.
In his return journey, the former Asian Tour regular found himself stuck on the 12th hole and the eight shots he took to complete the par-four hole left him two-over and in danger of missing another cut.
However, Atwal fought back with birdies on the 14th and 16th to stay in contention in the tournament.
