3 marine police stations to be set up at Jamnagar coast
Jamnagar, Sep 23 (UNI) Three marine police stations would be set up in Bedi, Vadinar and Okha port areas of the district, said Rajkot range IGP V Rabari here.
Addressing mediapersons yesterday, he said three police stations would be assigned for security of coastal areas. Each station would have one police inspector, a sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector and head constables with a total strength of 23. High speed boats also would be provided to every police station for patrolling the coastal areas, Mr Rabari said.
He said the crime ratio was down in 2005 compared to 2004. It increased in August this year.
Since there are two major refineries, Reliance and Essar Oil, many labourers have come from other parts of the country. Recently many labourers of Essar refinery had rioted. ''So we plan to keep the biodata of every person working here in the refineries. One police chowki would be active within short time near the Essar refinery.
And one company of State Reserve Police would also be kept at standby near Reliance refinery on a trial basis. And we would like to keep it on a permanent basis,'' Mr Rabari said.
