28 convicted, three acquitted in multi-crore fodder scam
Ranchi, Sep 23 (UNI) A special CBI court today convicted 28 accused, including a former Regional Director of Animal Husbandry Department, in a case of the multi-crore fodder scam.
Judge U S P Sinha today sentenced to rigorous imprisonment, of three to six years, the 28 accused and acquitted three people-- Ramashanker Singh, Subhash Anand and Manish Anand--in the illegal withdrawal of government funds amounting to about Rs 1.19 crore from the Palamu treasury in 1999.
Forty people were made accused in the case of whom two were absconding while seven died during the trial.
Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and former chief minister of Bihar Jagganath Mishra are among the accused in the case.
