VHP promises construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya
Una, Sep 22 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today asserted that the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya was its first priority, while ruling out the construction of the Babri Masjid at the disputed site.
Talking to mediapersons here, its International Joint General Secretary Onkar Bhave, said no mosque would be allowed inside the heritage complex of the Ram temple.
Mr Bhave was here to preside over the closing ceremony of the training camp for 50 full time organisation members of Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing optimism that the Supreme court decision on the Ram Janma Bhoomi-Babri Masjid issue would be in favour of the Hindus, he said the government at the Center would not be able to implement it due to its policy of appeasement of the Muslim community.
He said 60 lakh village committees of the VHP had already been formed and that the target was to reach one lakh mark.
He said the third International Assembly of the Parishad would be held at Prayag in Allahabad from February 11 to 13 next year.
More than one lakh activists from 100 countries would participate in the assembly, called to deliberate on the strategies and work plan for the construction of the Ram Temple.
Replying to a question, Mr Bhave lamented that the VHP-BJP ties were a compulsion since BJP was a lesser evil as a political party.
He said the BJP had diverted from its stance on Hindutva, which was because some of its leaders had distanced themselves from Hindutva issues and were interested in fostering their political objectives only.
The VHP would not be entering into politics, he clarified.
