Inquiry in pipes sales in State
Srinagar, Sep 22: The Jammu and Kashmir government has placed two engineers under suspension and ordered an inquiry into the alleged illegal sale of water pipes of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in south Kashmir.
An official spokesman said the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Pulwama Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo has ordered an inquiry into the alleged illegal sale of G. I. Pipes belonging to PHE division Shopian.
Mr Kakroo has also appointed additional district development commissioner Pulwama Sajad Ahmad Khan as enquiry officer who has been asked to furnish the report within seven days.
The DDC has placed the Assistant Executive Engineer, Sub-Division Pampore Ghulam Nabi Bhat and Junior Engineer of PHE Division Shopian under suspension.
The suspended officials have been directed to report to the office of Additional District Development Commissioner Pulwama immediately.
The Spokesman said the scandal came into light when recently the Executive Engineer, PHE division Shopian confirmed that 66 GI pipes had been unanthorisedly dumped within the premises of Mohammad Akbar Sheikh and another 20 GI pipes were dumped at the Mohammad Yaqoob Shah premises with 'malicious' designs.
