School staff to accompany students in school bus

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) Delhi Government today said an inquiry will be conducted to ascertain how a school bus was stuck in a traffic jam during Wednesday's trader's Bandh and why no teacher was accompanying the deaf and dumb students in that bus.

Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said strict action would be taken against the officials/authority who failed to depute a teacher to accompany the students in the school bus.

The students from NDPC School, Mayur Vihar, Phase-I, being run by the Social Welfare Department, was stuck in a traffic jam for several hours during the bandh and parents got to know about the welfare of their children only through media reports.

An official spokesman said the Minister has asked the Secretary, Social Welfare Department, to investigate this serious lapse on the part of the school management.

The school management is fully responsible for ferrying students and must ensure that at least one teacher/staff accompanies them in every school bus till all the children reach their destination, he said.
