North Zone inter-state under-13 cricket event begins
Patiala, Sep 22 (UNI) The North Zone inter-state cricket tournament in Under-13 age group got under way here on a quiet note.
In a match played between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium, Punjab defeated the latter and earned three points.
Winning the toss, Punjab batted first and scored 183 for 8 in 60 overs.
The main scorers for Punjab were S.Goyal (49), Mohit Handa (35), Vinay (31), Shivlov (19) while Karan Goyal was 11 not out.
For Himachal Pradesh, Akash took 2 for 20, Udhav 2 for 33 and Shivlov 1 for 9. In reply, Himachal Pradesh were bundled out for 85 in 31.1 overs. Ankush with 35 and Saroj 21 were the main run getters.
For Punjab, Karan Goyal bowled brilliantly, capturing 4 wickets, giving away 25 runs. Rajeshwar took 2 for 6 and Vivek also took 2 wickets, giving away 17 runs.
In the second innings, Punjab were 29 for 1 in 15 overs.
In the second match, played at Yadavindra Public School here, Delhi defeated Haryana by a huge margin. Delhi scored 250, while Haryana were all out for 137.
Tomorrow, Delhi will face Himachal Pradesh at YPS ground, while Punjab will play against Haryana at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.
