Chennai, Sep 22: Mahindra and Mahindra, the market leader in utility vehicles in the country, has drawn up plans to capture 50 per cent market share in the small cargo four-wheeler segment, with the launch of "MaXX Maxi Truck and Bolero Pik Up FB."
Addressing a press conference here after the launch of the two vehicles here, Mr Vivek Nayer, Vice President, Marketing said the company was already enjoying 33 per cent market share in the small cargo segment and the introduction of the new vehicles would help it tap additional market share.
"We are confident of enhancing our market share to at least 50 per cent at the end of this fiscal.
With the industry growing at 21 per cent, it will not be difficult for the company to increase its market share to 50 per cent," he said.
Stating the service network was the biggest strength of the company, Mr Nayer said all dealers across the country had been asked to open service outlets within a 60 km radius to provide better customer service.
The small cargo segment was the fastest growing segment, directly related to the economic development. "When the economy grows, the segment also grows," he added.
He said while Maxi Truck would be positioned between the mini truck and Pick up vehicle categories to cater to both urban and rural markets, Bolero would be placed in the high-end segment to meet the demands of the customers in the cities.
Maxi Truck was priced at Rs 3.41 lakh and Bolero Rs 4.53 lakh (both ex-showroom Chennai). Both the models have come packed with a slew of features aimed at providing performance and comfort to the customers, he added.
