Militants kill one in Kashmir, top Lashker ultra arrested
Srinagar, Sep 22 (UNI) Militants killed one person and injured his mother even as two encounters were going on between ultras and security forces at two different places in the Kashmir valley.
Security forces arrested a top Lashker-e-Toiba militant Reyaz Ul Shaban at Sopore in Baramulla district.
Official sources informed that a group of militants entered the house of Nighar Ahmad Sheikh at Chogulpora in Anantnag district and shot him dead. His mother Raja Begum was injured in the firing.
Militants had killed his sister two years ago.
A police spokesman said a security patrol was attacked by the militants at Lolab in the frontier district of Kupwara today.
Security forces also returned fire and a fierce encounter was going on when reports last came in.
Official sources informed that another encounter between the militants and security forces was going on at Tarzoo, Sopore, in Baramulla district.
The security forces and police in a joint operation recovered one wireless set, about 300 rounds of ammunition, four magazines and two detonators from a hideout at Trehgam in north Kashmir. However, no one was arrested.
Meanwhile, the four infiltrators killed by the security forces near the Line of Control (LoC) yesterday in Uri sector belonged to the Pakistan based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT). Officials further informed that four AK rifles, seven magzines and other arms and ammunitions besides LeT literature and maps were recovered from the slain militants.
