mAN sentenced to life in wife's murder

Rourkela, Sep 21 (UNI) A session court today sentenced a man of life for murdering his newly-married wife in a dowry case.

Rourkela Additional Sessions Judge V Jayashree sentenced Anil Kumar Mohapatra (27) to life and slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 over him for murdering Sudharani Rout.

According to the prosecution, Sudharani's parents paid cash, gold ornaments and other articles as dowry to Anil's family.

However, Anil later started torturing his wife demanding more dowry.

On February 4, past year, Anil's brother informed Saudhari's family about her being found missing.

Later, Sudharani's body was found on the railway tracks near here with multiple injuries.

However, the Railway police registered it as an unnatural death case and the deceased's father lodged an FIR against Anil and his family members suspecting foul play.

The Judge had acquitted all others except Anil in the case.
