Lord Swaraj Paul to address at Indore

Indore, Sep 22: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising an address by Caparo Group Ltd Chairman Lord Swaraj Paul on 'India Inc on Global Stage' on September 26 here.

Madhya Pradesh Commerce Minister Babulal Gaur will also be present and address the gathering during the session, according to a CII release.

Top industrialists, academicians and senior government officials from all over the state will attend the programme.

Stressing the need for acting on the global stage, leveraging radically new drivers of economic power and growth in order to succeed, CII said Indian firms had embarked on the global path leading to the emergence of the Indian multinational companies.

Lord Swaraj Paul holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the US-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

In 1968, he started buying and selling steel in a one-man business and acquired a small tube unit, Natural Gas Tubes (NGT), which developed into one of the leading UK producers of welded steel tube and spiral welded pipe.

Gradually he bought more units, mainly in the steel products manufacturing industry and founded Caparo Group in 1978, the release added.
