Haryana Councillor granted bail

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) A city court today granted bail to Haryana councillor Pradeep Jaildar, who was sent in judicial custody yesterday for his continuance non-appearance in court in a case relating to an agitation six years ago.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Kamini Lau yesterday had sent Jaildar in judicial custody following the issuance of a non-bailable warrant for him on the last date of hearing.

The ACMM has already sent a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for facilitating the execution of the warrant for the councillor.

Jaildar was booked for staging a demonstration against the BJP government before Parliament on July 27, 2000 under the banner of the Youth Congress and damaging the barricade and injuring several policemen.

The police had also booked Jagat Singh, son of former External Minister Natwar Singh, and Randeeep Singh Surjewala, now Haryana Transport Minister, under different sections of the IPC.

Charges are yet to be framed against the accused in the case.
