Govt implementing Jayati Ghosh recommendations: Minister
Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today said the Government was implementing the recommendations of Jayati Ghosh Commission which had studied the circumstances that led to farmers committing suicides in the State.
Addressing a review meeting with officials of different departments, he said of the 170 recommendations, 129 were implemented.
Mr Reddy said some of the recommendations required central clearance and hence the delay. It was decided to write to the Centre to expedite clearances, he added.
He said the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would also take up the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the minister concerned.
The Government had implemented the vital recommendation by reducing the interest rate for farmers. The suitable changes were made in the marketing system, as per the recommendations of the Commission, he added.
