BJP declines to comment on SC suggestion on fixed term for police

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) The BJP today declined to comment on the Supreme Court suggestions for a fixed term for Director General/ Inspectors Generals of Police across the country to ensure their independent functioning.

The BJP said it wanted police reforms to bring in a sense of justice within the administration and free the system of corruption and political interference. However, it would react only upon studying the order in detail.

The apex court had suggested that the state Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) should have a two-year minimum fixed tenure and there should also be separate wings for investigation and enforcement of law and order in the country.
