Badal promises employment generation in Punjab
Hoshiarpur, Sep 22 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Parkash Singh Badal today said he would chalk out a plan to generate employment on a large scale in Punjab if the Akali-BJP combine formed the next state government.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Badal said the Amarinder Singh government in Punjab had failed to provide employment to the educated youth of the state, while corruption had become rampant in the Congress rule.
The former chief minister said unemployment was the menace across the country now and it was the utmost duty of the respective state governments to provide jobs to the people.
He said the SAD would promulgate the party manifesto two months before the state assembly elections which were due in February 2007.
The SAD would continue its mass contact campaign by holding rallies throughout the state for mobilising public opinion in its favour and to gear up the party workers to give a crushing defeat to the Congress.
Replying to a question, Mr Badal said party tickets for the forthcoming election would be given to almost all the sitting MLAs. However, some changes could not be ruled out for the betterment of the poll results.
