9 policemen suspended in custodial suicide case

Lucknow, Sep 22 (UNI)The Uttar Pradesh government today suspended nine policemen, including a station officer (SO), posted in Shahjahanpur for their alleged laxity as an accused committed suicide in custody.

State Home Secretary Arun Kumar Sinha told newspersons here today that an accused Rajbir's body was found hanging in the lavatory of Kanth police station in Shahjahanpur district yesterday.

Those suspended included the SO, a senior sub-inspector and seven constables.

A case had been registered against these policemen and a home guard jawan.

A magisterial inquiry had also been ordered in the case.
