'7/11 serial blasts investigation in right direction'
Mumbai, Sep 22: City police chief A N Roy today said that investigating agencies are moving in right direction in connection with the 7/11 serial train blasts and the conspirators would be apprehended very soon.
Interacting with mediapersons in 'Meet the Press'' rogramme, organised by the Crime Reporters Association here, Mr Roy said that ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad), investigating the blasts case was moving in a right direction and they would be able to share the vital information with the media in near future. However, he declined to divulge any further information as investigations were on and it might hamper the investigation process.
On being specifically asked about the involvement 'Al-Qaeda' in serial blast as reported in a section of press, Mr Roy neither denied nor admitted it. ''This information was not provided by the Mumbai police so why should I deny it,'' he said, terming it irresponsible reporting.'' Mr Roy further said since the beginning, police has suspected the involvement of terrorist outfits like 'Lashkar-e-Toiba' and others, but had never memntioned the involvement of Al-Qaeda in the blasts.
Talking about an unidentified body which was lying in morgue at Sion hospital, the police Chief said they had come across some leads in this connection. ''Investigations are on, so at this juncture, it would not be proper to share any further information,'' he said.
After receiving the Narco test report of some accused persons from Bangalore, who were arrested in this case, police have received vital information which helped investigating team to get some leads in the case and they have already started working in that direction.
An elaborated security arrangments have been made in the city in view of 'Navratri' festival which is slated to begin from tomorrow and Ramzan-month to meet any eventuality, Mr Roy added.
