Workshop on Biogeographic Information System in Kochi

Kochi, Sept 21 (UNI) A two-day workshop on Biogeographic Information System for Indian Ocean would be held here from September 25.

According to an official release today, the workshop, first of its kind, has immense importance as the biodiversity elements of the Indian Ocean are relatively less known compared to the other oceans.

The workshop is jointly organised by the National Institute of Oceanography, Kochi, and the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune.

Ocean Biogeographic Information System is a mechanism to assess and explain the diversity distribution and abundance of life in the ocean and also document the changes in the biodiversity.
