Two killed in mishaps in Thrissur

Thrissur, Sep 21 (UNI) A construction labourer was killed in a wall collapse while a seventh class student drowned while swimming in a pond near his house in two separate mishaps in this district today.

A labourer, identified as Moothedathu Suku (58), died while the wall of a house under construction at Paravattani here collapsed.

The decased, from Nellikkunnu here, is survived by his wife and three children. Another worker injured in the incident has been hospitalised .

In another mishap, a seventh standard student of the Sree Ramakrishna Ashram School in Puranattukara near here drowned while swimming in a pond near his house at Chittilappilli here today.

The decased was identified as Libin (12), son of Edakkalathoor Lonappan.

The incident occurred when the rubber tube, with the help of which the boy was swimming, burst after getting trapped in water plants.

Fire force personnel removed the body to the hospital for post-mortem.
