Surat to be under tight security cover during Navratri season

Surat, Sep 21 (UNI) Surat district, both the city and rural areas, will be under tight security blanket during the Navaratri festival season.

Speaking on the security measures taken by the city police, Commissioner Sudhir Sinha told UNI that a number of Quick Reaction Teams will be deployed in garba points.

''There will be upto eight Quick reaction teams, with fully automatic weapons, in garba points to meet any untoward incident. We will also deploy 20 mobile patrolling units in the city'', he said.

He said a large number of para military forces and State Resreve Police Forces also will be deployed in the city. ''We are closely monitoring the hotels and guest houses in the city'', he added.

Houses rented by new tenants for the last three or four months are also under observation, he said, adding all entry points in the city will be under scanner.

Mr Sinha said security personnel have already been deployed in the city.

Speaking about security measures taken in the rural areas in the district, Rural Superintendent of Police Brajesh Kumar Jha told UNI that a large number of State Reserve Police Force have been deployed at all important points in the rural areas.

''We have already given instructions to all garba organisers about what to do and what not to do'', said Mr Jha. He also added that there will be heavy security in areas which have huge population.

Mr Jha said all rural police stations have been instructed on the measures to be taken. ''We have already started deploying security teams and they will be there till October 2'', he added.
